Best Practice

Great effort has been made to reduce noise both when building new offshore plants and in modifications of existing plants. For several years a strict control regime has been followed consisting of conventional single and double personal hearing protection equipment and work hour restrictions in high level noise areas. However, systematic hearing surveillance over years shows that hearing is still at risk.
We are now implementing a combination of different new technologies to manage noise in a safer way than earlier. Real time monitoring of noise in plant, use of an intelligent personal hearing protection system and automatic early detection of increased hearing threshold may reduce the risk of noise to acceptable levels.
