A private evening at the GPO Witness History Experience – Optional Night/Ticketed Event
GPO Witness History is a brand new permanent visitor attraction in the iconic GPO building on O’Connell Street, Dublin 1. The centre will open privately on this evening for Congress delegates who have purchased a ticket.
This highly immersive and engaging exhibition puts you right inside the GPO during Easter Week in 1916 and gives you exclusive access to the architectural GPO witness history museum. History will come to life as you experience events from both sides of the conflict and through the eyes of bystanders caught in the crossfire through electronic touch screens, video, audio visual booths, sound and authentic artefacts – many previously unseen.
After the exhibition, we will gather in the glass walled dining area overlooking the courtyard. Light ‘super bowl’ style meal with drinks will be served in a semi seated casual setting.
The events of Easter Week shaped this country’s history and the GPO was at the centre of it all.
Please Note – This event is subject to minimum numbers to go ahead, if minimum numbers are not achieved the organisers reserve the right to cancel the event and refund any delegates who have paid. An alternative will be provided where is possible.

This is a fun and unique way to explore Dublin City. Combining two well-known aspects of Irish Heritage: Literature & Pubs!
It’s a tour of Dublin’s historic pubs in the company of two actors who introduce the writers and perform scenes from their works: The Pub, the Poet, the Pint!
You will hear a selection from Joyce, Beckett, Behan, Mary Lavin, Oscar Wilde, Eavan Boland, Paula Meehan, Seamus Heaney, Michael Longley. No need to be a literary buff as everything will be explained to you by quoting entertaining pieces from the works of Dublin’s scribes as well as being given some background to the writers featured – so no jumping in at the deep end. You will be told about the great pubs in the city, how the pub culture got started and how important it was for the trade of writing.
It is not a particularly strenuous walk – about a half-mile in total. However, walking can be thirsty work and so you will stop along the way for a refreshing drink in 4 of our most famous pubs to experience them for yourselves. Light snacks will be provided in one of the pubs we stop at (not dinner).
